Pakistan: Report says 179 terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2024




According to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), a total of 179 terrorist incidents were recorded in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province till April 30 this year, ARY News reports.

According to the latest report of CTD, 91 terrorists were also killed in 2024.

According to ARY News, 60 terrorist incidents took place in January, followed by 38 in February, 33 in March and 48 in April. Notably, the highest number of 31 terrorists were killed in KP in February.

Additionally, reports state that 19 terrorists were killed in Dera Ismail Khan and 14 in North Waziristan. Additionally, it highlights that 16 of the killed terrorists were on the most wanted list, including individuals such as Mohsin Qadir, Azmatullah and Faridullah.

According to ARY News, the CTD report revealed the recovery of 2 suicide jackets, 36 hand grenades and 247 kg of explosives.

The report also shows that there have been 10 attacks on police teams this year, highlighting the challenging security situation in the province.

Last year, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) report on terror incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had said that there were 563 terror incidents in 2023 and of these, police were targeted 243 times.

According to the report’s findings, the highest number of 132 terrorist incidents were recorded in Dera Ismail Khan, followed by Khyber with 103 incidents and Peshawar with 89 terrorist activities.

The report further states that terrorists attacked North Waziristan 86 times and South Waziristan 50 times. The report further said that 837 terrorists were detained.
