External Affairs Minister Jaishankar welcomes ASEAN delegation, says “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will be further strengthened”


External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met senior ASEAN officials in the national capital on Friday and expressed confidence that the ASEAN-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will further strengthen.

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar emphasized that ASEAN-India meetings are “an important feature of India’s diplomatic calendar”.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is an intergovernmental international organization consisting of Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Brunei, Thailand, Myanmar, the Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore and Malaysia.

“A delegation of senior officials from ASEAN, Timor-Leste and the ASEAN Secretariat jointly met S Jaishankar on Friday. India truly believes that a strong and integrated ASEAN can play a constructive role in the emerging regional architecture of the Indo-Pacific,” EAM Jaishankar said in a virtual address at the first ASEAN Future Forum.

He said, “The synergy between India’s Indo Pacific Ocean Initiative (IPOI) and the ASEAN Perspective on the Indo Pacific (AOIP), reflected in the Joint Statement of our ASEAN India Leaders, provides a strong framework for cooperation, “Which also includes solutions to broader security challenges.” ,
