This dreaded batsman of England returned in the middle of IPL, why did he have to go home?

New Delhi. Many teams that entered the new season of the Indian Premier League with new expectations were disappointed. This season also did not go well for Punjab Kings and they joined the teams that were out of the race for the playoffs. Now the team’s all-rounder Liam Livingstone is out due to injury. He returned to England on Monday to recover from a knee injury ahead of next month’s T20 World Cup.

The Punjab Kings team is already out of the Indian Premier League play-off race with just four wins in 12 matches and is currently at the last position in the points table with eight points. Livingstone wrote on Instagram, “Another year of IPL, will have to get my knee fixed for the upcoming World Cup.”

He wrote, “Thank you again to the Punjab Kings fans for their love and support. A disappointing season for the team and personally but as always I enjoyed every minute of playing in the IPL.

Due to his return home, Livingstone will not be available for Punjab Kings’ last two matches against Rajasthan Royals (May 15) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (May 19). Livingstone’s injury is not serious but according to ‘ESPNcricinfo’ the England team management has decided to give him more time for treatment before the home T20 series against Pakistan starting on May 22.

After the series against Pakistan, the defending champion team of England will leave for West Indies for the ICC T20 World Cup. The team will start its campaign against Scotland on June 4 in Bridgetown, Barbados.

In the current season of IPL, Livingstone could score only 111 runs in seven matches and took only three wickets. England’s World Cup team playing in the IPL includes Moeen Ali (Chennai Super Kings), Sam Curran, Jonny Bairstow (both Punjab Kings), Jos Buttler (Rajasthan Royals), Will Jacques, Reece Topley (both Royal Challengers Bangalore) and Phil Salt. (Kolkata Knight Riders) will also return home by this weekend.
