Williams made his T20 International debut in 2006. He played his first match also against Bangladesh.

Sean Williams is the second cricketer to have played the longest period in T20 International. He spent 17 years and 166 days in T20 International cricket. Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh holds the record of playing for the longest period. Shakib is still active and is playing cricket continuously. In this matter, even Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are not ahead of Sean Williams. However, Rohit can leave Williams behind in this matter in a few days. Zimbabwe team is not part of the World Cup.
