Team India’s worries increased, opening pair failed before T20 World Cup

New Delhi. Right after the Indian Premier League, the Indian team has to play in the ICC T20 World Cup. This tournament was being seen as preparation for the players of Team India. Some players have done well here but the performance of captain Rohit Sharma and his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal was not as expected. Both of them have definitely scored centuries this season but apart from that they could not leave any impact.

The first option to open for the Indian team in the T20 World Cup is the pair of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal. In Test cricket, both of them continuously open the innings for India. This pair has been a hit in this format. There will be a big responsibility on both of them in T20. Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal are known for aggressive batting, hence the team management will trust this pair. However, along with Rohit, Virat Kohli can also be sent to start the innings.

Rohit Sharma has failed to score runs in his last few matches. In the last match played against Kolkata Knight Riders, only 19 runs were scored from his bat whereas before that, he was able to score only 4 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. 11 against Kolkata whereas in the earlier match played with Lucknow, only 4 runs came from his bat. Even against Delhi Capitals, Rohit Sharma was able to score only 8 runs. Rohit Sharma has scored 349 runs after playing 13 matches so far this season. This also includes an innings of 105 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal will open with Indian team captain Rohit Sharma in the T20 World Cup but his recent form has not been good. This season he has touched the figure above fifty in only two matches. One of these is a century inning which was seen against Mumbai Indians and the other is an inning of 67 runs which was played against Hyderabad. Apart from this, he has played innings of 10, 0, 24, 39, 19, 24, 4 and 24 runs. Like Rohit, Yashasvi Jaiswal has played 13 matches and has 348 runs in his account. This also includes an innings of 104 runs.
