Pakistan lost to Ireland, blow to T20 World Cup preparations, selectors worried, Babar Azam…


New Delhi. Pakistan, which reached Ireland to prepare for the T20 World Cup, has suffered a major setback. Host Ireland has defeated Pakistan in the first T20 match. The Player of the Match award was given to Andy Balbirnie, who played an inning of 77 runs on 55 balls. With this, the host team has taken a 1-0 lead in the 3-match T20 series.

Many players of Pakistan proved to be a huge flop in the first T20 match played against Ireland in Dublin. This may trouble the Pakistani selectors, who have to choose the team for the World Cup after this series.

Pakistan scored a strong score of 182 runs for 6 wickets in the first T20 match against Ireland. From his side, captain Babar Azam scored the maximum of 57 runs (43 balls). Opener Saim Ayub scored 45 runs in 29 balls. Thanks to these two, Pakistan had at one time scored 116 runs for 2 wickets. But after this Pakistan lost 3 wickets in quick succession and the score became 123 runs for 5 wickets. Azam Khan and Shadab could not even open their accounts.

Iftikhar Ahmed, who came to bat at number seven, took charge of his team by scoring 37 runs in 15 balls. He, along with Fakhar Zaman (20) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (14), took Pakistan to the score of 182.

Opener Andy Balbirnie played an inning of 77 runs for the Irish team, which was chasing the target of 183 runs. He kept the innings under control despite the initial two wickets falling in quick succession. After the dismissal of Paul Stirling (8) and Lorcan Tucker (4), Balbirnie got a good partner in the form of Harry Tector. Both of them made a partnership of 77 runs and took Ireland’s score beyond 100. Harry Tector played an inning of 36 runs in 27 balls. George Dockrell scored 24 runs on 12 balls. All this together brought Ireland closer to victory. After this, Curtis Campher (15 not out) and Gareth Delany (10 not out) took their team beyond the target.
