New Zealand looking to hurt hosts with India’s formula

New Delhi. India’s spin bowlers Washington Sundar and R Ashwin took all 10 wickets of New Zealand on the first day of the Pune Test match. This wicket is helpful for spin. The Indian team has now come out to bat. New Zealand’s assistant coach Luke Ronchi says that his/her bowlers will attack India’s batsmen using the same formula. After the end of the first day’s play, Ronchi openly said that the way the Indian spinners bowled, his/her bowlers will also follow the same and will trap the big guns of Team India.

Washington Sundar (59/7) and Ravichandran Ashwin (64/3) together bowled out New Zealand for 259 runs in the first innings, in response to which India scored 16 runs for one wicket at the end of the day’s play. Ronchi told reporters after the first day’s play, ‘If you notice, in the first few sessions the Indian spinners were bowling very fast and towards the end they slowed down their pace.’

7 world records made in 1 T20 match, Team India destroyed 4 world records, scored 282 runs with just sixes and fours

Ashwin and Sundar planned variations in the pace of bowling due to which the New Zealand team, which was looking in a very strong position after scoring 197 runs for three wickets, was bowled out for 259 runs. Ashwin dismissed the top three batsmen while Sundar gave his/her best performance in Test cricket by taking the remaining seven wickets. Ronchi said, ‘This gave more turn and bounce on the pitch and caused different reactions. So we can use it in our bowling because we know that change in ball speed is very important.

Ronchi praised Sundar for being consistent with his/her length to get the most out of the pitch on the first day. he/she said, ‘It was consistency of being able to bowl in a good area for a long time. Some balls went too far out of the crease. he/she got some good drift and the ball that got Rachin (out) was very wide and straight and hit the (off stump). This is a very good ball to bowl for anyone. Ronchi said that the MCA Stadium pitch is not providing as much spin as expected but it will be important for New Zealand to keep its bowling strong against the Indian batsmen.
