KL Rahul Sanjiv Goenka: Goenka has ‘clashed’ not only with KL but also with Dhoni, had snatched the captaincy in the IPL itself.

New Delhi. Sanjeev Goenka, who scolded KL Rahul in front of the camera after the defeat of Lucknow Supergiants in IPL, has been in controversies earlier also. This is the reason why cricket fans are advising KL Rahul to leave the team whose owner is Sanjeev. Business tycoon Sanjiv Goenka is the owner of Lucknow Supergiants (LSG). Well, this is not even his first team. He was earlier the owner of Rising Pune Supergiant team in 2016-17. Even then, Sanjeev Goenka had surprised the cricket world by suddenly removing MS Dhoni from the captaincy.

Lucknow Supergiants is among the two IPL teams which were included in 2022. Sanjiv Goenka’s firm had made the highest bid on the Lucknow franchise. Goenka had earlier also purchased the Pune franchise in 2016. Pune Supergiant participated in IPL 2016. The team’s performance was not anything special. She stood seventh in the points table. After this, in 2017 the name of the team was changed to Rising Pune Supergiant. Not only this, a few days before the start of IPL 2017, the captaincy was snatched from MS Dhoni. Australia’s Steve Smith was made the new captain in his place.

Counting of teams out of IPL playoffs begins, Mumbai’s dream broken, today Bengaluru or Punjab, tomorrow Gujarat… keep counting.

Indian cricket fans were shocked when MS Dhoni was removed from the captaincy. Although the fans supporting Dhoni’s removal were citing his poor form, but no one was talking about the fact that he had made Chennai Super Kings the IPL champion twice before joining the Pune team. Dhoni had scored only 284 runs in 12 innings in IPL 2016. However, the move to make Smith the captain worked and the Pune team reached the final in IPL 2017. He had to face defeat from Mumbai Indians in the final.
