Jagdambika Pal is taking unilateral decisions… Opposition MPs who came to discuss Waqf Bill complained to Om Birla

New Delhi: Opposition MPs, who are part of the joint committee of Parliament considering the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, are angry with Jagdambika Pal. All opposition members met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today. he/she says that all of them are against the alleged unilateral decision of BJP MP Jagdambika Pal. he/she said that the Lok Sabha Speaker listened to him/her patiently and assured him/her of taking a decision as soon as possible.

What did the opposition MPs say after meeting Om Birla?

Trinamool Congress MP and committee member Kalyan Banerjee said it was a very good discussion. he/she showed goodwill towards us. The Speaker of the Lok Sabha listened to us very patiently and said that he/she would look into the matter. When asked whether they would attend the committee meeting on Tuesday, the opposition MPs replied in the affirmative. Senior advocate Harish Salve will appear before the committee on Tuesday to present his/her views on behalf of the Dawoodi Bohra community.What is the resentment against Jagdambika Pal?
Opposition members on Monday accused Jagadambika Pal of taking ‘unilateral’ decisions and ‘demolishing’ the entire process and hinted at recusing themselves from the committee. he/she also claimed in the letter addressed to Birla that he/she was not heard in the proceedings of the committee and in such a situation he/she may be forced to recuse himself from the committee.

The committee’s proceedings have been disrupted due to continued protests by opposition members on several issues, with BJP members accusing them of deliberately trying to disrupt its work. Pal has rejected the charge that he/she did not allow opposition members to express their views. he/she said he/she made sure everyone was heard.
