Indian official meets Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Haj Minister, discusses logistics arrangements for pilgrims

Secretary (Consular, Passport, Visa and Overseas Indian Affairs) Muktesh K Pardeshi reviewed the preparations for Haj 2024 in Jeddah and Madinah.

Pardeshi held a meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Haj Minister Abdul Fattah Mashat and discussed the logistical arrangements and development of infrastructure aimed at the welfare and comfort of the pilgrims.

Muktesh Pardeshi was on an official visit to Saudi Arabia from May 4-7 with the aim of strengthening the strategic partnership between India and Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a press release. Notably, a total of 175,025 Indian pilgrims will visit Saudi Arabia in 2024 under the 2024 Haj quota.

Pardeshi held talks with Saud bin Mohammed Al Sati, Deputy Minister of Political Affairs at the Saudi Foreign Ministry. During the meeting, both sides reviewed the progress under the Strategic Partnership Council (SPC) and topics of bilateral and mutual interest. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthen cooperation with Saudi Arabia in various fields.

During his visit to Riyadh, Muktesh K Pardeshi met Nasser Al Qahtani, Assistant Minister for Power Affairs at the Ministry of Energy, and Mohammed Ebrahim, Assistant Minister for Petroleum and Gas and discussed deepening energy cooperation, including in the field of renewable energy . During his visit, Pardeshi reviewed the well-being of the 24 lakh Indian community living in Saudi Arabia. He appreciated the leadership of Saudi Arabia for its efforts to ensure the welfare of the Indian community.
