New Delhi. Indian women’s cricket team defeated Bangladesh by 21 runs in the fifth and last T20 match. With this, Team India made a clean sweep of the hosts 5-0 in the 5-match series. After Richa Ghosh’s brilliant innings of 28 not out, Radha Yadav (24/3) bowled brilliantly in the fifth T20. Bangladesh made a good start while chasing the target of 157 runs but due to left arm spinner Radha Yadav shaking the top order, their team could only score 136 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Ritu Moni’s 37 runs and Shorifa Khatoon’s unbeaten innings of 28 runs were also of no use for him.

All-rounders Moni and Shorifa put India under pressure by making a partnership of 57 runs for the sixth wicket but the visiting team ultimately swept the series. This partnership between Moni and Shorifa is the biggest partnership for the sixth wicket in Women’s T20 International for Bangladesh. Earlier, the highest partnership of 32 runs was between Sanjeeda Islam and Nigar Sultana for the sixth wicket. Leg spinner Asha Shobhana (25/2) broke this partnership. He broke the hopes of the home team by dismissing Moni in the 17th over.

Bangladesh had scored 52 runs after losing five wickets in 10 overs, but Moni and Shorifa together took advantage of every opportunity by hitting boundaries and rotating the strike to give them hope. Radha Yadav first impressed by taking a brilliant catch of Shobhana Mostri (13 runs) off the ball of Titas Sadhu. Shobhana had hit three fours in the first over of Pooja Vastrakar. Then Radha derailed the hosts by dismissing Dilara Akhtar (04), captain Nigar Sultana (07) and Rubaya Haider (20). Earlier, India scored 156 runs for five wickets with Richa’s 17-ball innings studded with three sixes and one four. D Hemalatha (37) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (30) also strengthened the innings by adding 60 runs for the third wicket.

India scored the highest score of the series. Opener Smriti Mandhana gave a good start to the team by scoring 33 runs in 25 balls with four fours and one six. Rabia Khan (two wickets for 28 runs) gave a double blow to India in the 16th over, whereas the team lost a wicket even an over before this, after which wicketkeeper batsman Richa played a brilliant innings. Shefali Verma (14) and Mandhana added 25 runs for the first wicket. Mandhana also made a partnership of 37 runs with Hemlata.

Mandhana was heading towards a big innings but became the victim of a controversial decision of LBW on the ball of Nahida Akhtar (2 wickets for 27 runs) in the eighth over. DRS is not being used in this series. Fariha Trisna gave life to Hemlata on the score of one run, taking advantage of which she hit two fours and as many sixes in her innings of 23 balls. Harmanpreet also looked in rhythm during her inning of 30 runs in 24 balls with four fours.
