Box Office: Bumper opening of GOAT, the film will cross 100 crores on the first day! But fails in front of ‘Stree 2’

Thalapathy Vijay’s action-thriller ‘The Greatest of All Time’ has been released in theaters on Thursday, 5 September 2024. The film has hit the theaters with an advance booking of more than 50 crores worldwide. While a huge crowd of Vijay’s fans was seen in the morning and afternoon shows. Originally made in Tamil, this film of director Venkat Prabhu, however, has less strength in Hindi. While the film is making a blockbuster opening in South India, it has not been able to stand in front of ‘Stree 2’ in North India. It seems that after the super success of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ and ‘Stree 2’, Indian cinema is going to get another blockbuster in the form of GOAT. However, the reviews of the film are not very good among the crowd of fans. This film may be like a festival for Vijay’s fans, but it is being described as average. The budget of the film is also Rs 400 crore. Out of this, Vijay’s fee is said to be Rs 200 crores only. Now if the film fails to impress the audience after the weekend, it may have to bear a huge loss.

Worldwide collection of more than 100 crores on opening day

According to the report of sacnilk, this film will earn more than Rs 100 crore worldwide on the first day. In this way, Thalapathy Vijay will now join the list of superstars like Shahrukh Khan (young) and Prabhas. Also, by earning 100 crores on the opening day, it will also beat Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao’s ‘Stree 2’, which had a worldwide collection of around Rs 80 crore on the opening day.

Advance booking of GOAT movie

Even before its release, GOAT has crossed the 50 crore mark in advance booking collection worldwide. After ‘Leo’, this is Thalapathy Vijay’s second film which has earned such a lot from pre-sales. Including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and IMAX versions, this film has done advance booking of Rs 24.50 crore in the country alone. However, the condition of the film is bad in the Hindi version, from where it has earned only Rs 50.52 lakh from pre-sales.

Overseas premiere shows of ‘The Goat’ were also organised before its release. If the earnings from these are combined, then even before hitting the theatres on Thursday, it has grossed Rs 62 crore worldwide from advance booking and premiere shows.

GOAT did not show any strength in front of ‘Stree 2’ in Hindi

From ‘Bahubali’ to ‘KGF’ and ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, the record-breaking earnings of any pan-India film depend on Hindi audiences. If a South Indian film is a hit in Hindi, then it is almost certain that it will reach 1000 crores. However, this is not the case with GOAT, at least on the first day. Its advance booking in Hindi is just Rs 50 lakh. Therefore, it is seen earning Rs 1 to 1.5 crore on the first day in Hindi. While it is facing the blockbuster ‘Stree 2’, which has earned Rs 497.90 crore in the country and Rs 710.50 crore worldwide in 21 days. This film has also done a business of Rs 5.60 crore on the 21st day, Wednesday.
