Banned companies did not violate any law of India, Foreign Ministry said on US ban

New Delhi: America has banned many Indian companies due to their relations with Russia. On this, the Government of India says that these companies are not violating the rules of India. The government also said that it is talking to US officials on this issue. America has banned hundreds of companies around the world on charges of helping Russia in the Ukraine war. These also include 19 Indian companies. America says that these companies provided such technology and equipment to Russia, which has increased its military strength.

What did the Foreign Ministry say

The Indian government says that it is discussing this issue with America. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We are talking to US officials to clarify the issues.” he/she said that India believes that the companies which have been banned are not violating Indian laws.

‘Companies did not violate Indian law’

MEA spokesperson Jaiswal said India has a strong legal and regulatory framework regarding strategic trade and proliferation control. he/she said India is a member of three major multilateral non-proliferation export control regimes – the Wassenaar Arrangement, the Australia Group and the Missile Technology Control Arrangement. India is effectively implementing relevant UN Security Council sanctions and UNSG resolution 1540 on non-proliferation.

Randhir Jaiswal said that we believe that the transactions and companies which have been banned do not violate Indian laws. Indian Government agencies are regularly conducting strategic trade/export control outreach programs for Indian industries and stakeholders. The US Finance Ministry said in a statement on Thursday that sanctions have also been imposed on companies from China, Switzerland, Thailand and Turkey for supplying the latest technology and equipment to Russia.
