Team India eliminated at home after 24 years, loss in WTC points table


New Delhi. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, the Indian team had to get a clean sweep from New Zealand in the home test series. This has happened after 24 years in the history of Indian Test when India has not won a single Test series at home. Earlier in the year 2000, South Africa had won the 2-match Test series 2-0 on the India tour. New Zealand has won the Test series in India for the first time. he/she has created history by winning all three consecutive test matches. The Kiwi team led by Tom Latham has benefited in the WTC rankings from this victory. New Zealand team reached fourth position leaving South Africa behind. The Indian team has slipped from first to second position. India’s path to reach the WTC final has now become difficult.

For the first time in a Test series of three or more matches, India had to face a clean sweep defeat at home. In the first Test match played in Bangalore, India lost by 8 wickets, while in the Pune Test, New Zealand captured the series by defeating the hosts by 113 runs. The Indian team has lost the Test series on its home soil after 12 years. Before this, India had won 18 consecutive Test series at home. Team India could not achieve the target of 147 runs in Mumbai Test. Indian batsmen were out cheaply.

In the third test match played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, New Zealand batted first and scored 235 runs. In reply, the Indian team scored 263 runs and took a lead of 28 runs. After this New Zealand scored 174 runs in the second innings. Team India had a target of 147 runs to win. In response, India’s innings was reduced to 121 runs. The Indian team slipped from first to second position after losing the Mumbai Test. Before the Mumbai Test match, India’s percentage points was 62.82, which came down to 58.33 after losing the third Test. It has now reached Australia above India. New Zealand has reached fourth position after the series win. To reach the WTC final, India will now have to win 4 out of 5 tests on the Australia tour while one test will have to be drawn. Only then will Team India be able to directly reach the WTC finals for the third consecutive time.
