Agarkar excluded both of them…Jay Shah said about 2 players who did not get contracts


New Delhi. Young wicketkeepers Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer were left out of the BCCI’s list of centrally contracted players for the 2023-24 season. Many former cricketers had given different types of reactions on this. Jai Shah has said in a statement that it was not I Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer but Ajit Agarkar himself had removed both of them from the list.

While talking to the media, Jai Shah said, “You can see the Constitution, I am just the head of the selection meeting. Ajit Agarkar had this decision and he removed Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer from the central list. Who were not participating in domestic cricket. So this entire decision was taken by him. My role is to select new players and I gave place to Sanju Samson as one of the new players.”

Let us tell you that Ishan Kishan was released midway from the South Africa tour last year. Then BCCI had cited the break. After this Ishaan was seen in a party in Dubai. When this player was expected to play Ranji Trophy matches for Jharkhand, he was seen training in Baroda with Hardik Pandya. Currently Ishaan is playing IPL for Mumbai.

After this, Shreyas Iyer had a back pain problem. Shreyas also withdrew his name a day before the Ranji quarter-finals saying that his back pain problem had not yet resolved even though the NCA had declared him fit. Iyer also found it costly not to participate in Ranji. He is currently playing in IPL for KKR.
