World Sindhi Congress President Rubina Shaikh elected President of UNPO

World Sindhi Congress President Rubina Sheikh has been elected president of the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples’ Organization (UNPO).

The Sheikh’s ascension to this important role underscores his steadfast dedication to amplifying the voices of underrepresented countries and peoples around the world.

UNPO, established in 1991, serves as an international membership organization with a diverse constituency of more than 40 members. It provides an important platform for nations and peoples who lack representation at major global forums to express their concerns and advocate for their rights on the international stage.

The WSC, which has been a member since 2016, joined with the UNPO to advocate for the self-determination of the Sindhi people.

Under Sheikh’s leadership, the WSC has leveraged the platform of UNPO to raise awareness of the unique cultural identity of the Sindhi people and the challenges they face in Pakistan.

His election as President is a testament to his steadfast leadership and tireless advocacy for human rights, democracy and self-determination for the Sindhi population.

Expressing her gratitude on being elected as the Chairperson of UNPO, Shaikh said, “I am deeply honored to be elected as the Chairperson of UNPO. I am committed to collaborating with all Members to ensure that the voices of unrepresented nations and peoples echo loud and clear. “Together, we can build a more resilient, inclusive global community.”

WSC congratulates Sheikh on this well-deserved distinction and looks forward to his continued success in furthering the missions of both organizations.
