WI vs AFG: 36 runs in one over, a storm came in the T20 World Cup, but Yuvraj’s record was not broken

New Delhi. On one hand, there is a drought of runs in the T20 World Cup 2024, on the other hand, 36 runs were scored in a single over in the match between West Indies and Afghanistan. Although this storm of runs came from the bat of Nicholas Pooran, but Azmatullah Omarzai also contributed a lot in this expensive over. Omarzai helped in making history by giving 10 extra runs in this most expensive over of T20 cricket.

This is the fifth time in T20 International matches that 36 runs have been scored in an over. This feat was first achieved by India’s beloved Yuvraj Singh. he/she hit six sixes in an over in the first T20 World Cup played in 2007. England’s Stuart Broad faced this havoc of Yuvi. After this, West Indies’ Kieron Pollard and Nepal’s Dipendra Singh also hit six sixes in an over. Once Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh together scored 36 runs in an over of Afghanistan’s Karim Janat.

The legend who dismissed Rohit 8 times and Kohli 6 times played his/her last match, his/her specialty was taking wickets in the first over

Talking about the 36 runs scored in one over in the West Indies and Afghanistan match, this unwanted record was registered in the name of all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai. When Azmatullah came to bowl the fourth over of the match, Nicholas Pooran welcomed him/her with a six. But this was just a trailer. After this, Pooran hit 2 more sixes and 2 fours in the same over.

Azmatullah, who was scared of Nicholas Pooran’s storm, also bowled a wide and a no ball in the same over. West Indies also got a boundary as leg bye in the same over. It was the magic of this over that West Indies scored 92 runs in the powerplay, which is the highest in this World Cup.

West Indies scored 218 runs for 5 wickets in this match. Nicholas Pooran (98) made the biggest contribution in this. However, Pooran must have regretted that he/she missed the century by 2 runs. Afghanistan’s team was all out for 114 in response to West Indies’ 218 runs. In this way, the host West Indies won the match by 104 runs.
