Monsoon rains are going to happen soon. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, monsoon is going to arrive before time this year. Southwest Monsoon is expected to reach Kerala by May 31. According to IMD forecast, monsoon is likely to reach Andaman Nicobar on May 19. After that the monsoon will move towards other parts of the country. The south-west monsoon is expected to reach Kerala around May 31. India Meteorological Department (IMD) gave this information on Wednesday. “This year, the southwest monsoon is expected to reach Kerala on May 31,” the IMD said. IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mohapatra said on Wednesday, ‘It is not early. This is close to the normal date as the normal date of onset of monsoon in Kerala is June 1. Last month, the IMD had predicted above normal rainfall during the southwest monsoon season that runs from June to September.
June and July are considered to be the most important monsoon months for agriculture as most of the sowing of Kharif crops takes place during this period.

How accurate is IMD’s forecast?

Releasing the monsoon update on Wednesday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the conditions for monsoon remain normal. In such a situation, there is no possibility of it arriving late in India. Normally monsoon hits Kerala on June 1. This time it is likely to arrive on May 31. IMD has also expressed the possibility of a delay of four days in this. The possibility of monsoon being normal this time has already been expressed. IMD has been forecasting monsoon for the last 19 years. According to IMD, the forecast has been correct from 2005 to 2023 except 2015.
