The Commission said that MP Jairam Ramesh, in a letter written to the Commission, has mentioned the alleged delay in updating the results of Haryana Assembly Elections 2024. The Commission wishes to point out that earlier on June 4, 2024, a similar concern was raised by the Congress in the context of the General Elections 2024. Which was investigated by the Commission and then rejected. The Commission has clearly stated that the counting of votes is being done at the designated counting centers and by the appointed officers following all the rules as per Rule 60 of the Election Code of Conduct.

When the trend changed, Congress leaders accused the Election Commission, Jairam Ramesh’s tweet – Data is not being updated.

Election Commission said- irresponsible and baseless

The Commission has told Ramesh that he/she has expressed his/her concern about the delay in updating the results in Haryana. Regarding that, the Commission reiterates that the entire counting process in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir is taking place as per the rules, in the presence of candidates, observers and micro observers. In such a situation, the Commission has termed the allegations made by Congress leader and MP Jairam Ramesh of delay in updating the results as baseless.

The Commission said that Jairam Ramesh has no evidence to support this. As is evident from the publicly available data on the result website of ECI. The commission also showed the speed of update of each round in a figure and said that about 25 rounds are being updated every five minutes in all the constituencies. Which confirms the quick spread of the vote counting process.

Jairam Ramesh said that our fear is also that such stories can be used by malicious people to influence the processes where counting of votes is still going on i.e. at most of the counting centres. We request you to issue immediate instructions to your officials to update correct and accurate data on the website, so that false news and malicious statements can be countered immediately.
