New Delhi: CDS General Anil Chauhan launches Shaurya Gatha Project at the Indian Military Heritage Festival. Through this project, the focus will be on increasing battlefield tourism and also the aim is to increase the sense of national pride in the future generation. ‘Project Shaurya Gatha’ is an initiative of the Department of Military Affairs (DMA). It has been launched in collaboration with the Center for Military History and Conflict Studies under the Joint Services Institution (USI). According to a senior official, the objective of this project is to preserve the heritage and respect the past as well as to increase national pride and educate the future generation.

This project is very special

Under this project, important military landmarks will be identified, restored and then promoted. Which includes forts, battlefields, monuments and museums. This will increase national pride and will also increase tourism, especially military tourism, in the border areas. This initiative will preserve the history as well as make military history easily available to the people. Along with the Department of Military Affairs, USI, Tourism, Culture, Education, Home, and External Affairs are also involved in this project. Through this project, a strong network of historical sites will be created and battlefield tourism will be promoted.

What is the purpose of this project?

The objective of this project is also to develop a comprehensive National Military Heritage Conservation Policy. This will allow historical heritage, such as ancient battlefields, war memorials and museums, to be preserved for future generations. It will also save oral histories and artifacts. This will preserve the stories of sacrifices and achievements of the armed forces. Under this project, many resources will be published, which will provide information about main battlefields, military museums, monuments and ancient military history of India. A website and app will also be created and through this, military history will also be made available to the international audience.

One of the main objectives of this project is the development of the border area. There will be economic development in these areas through military tourism, which will generate new jobs and improve infrastructure. In a program two months ago, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi had said that gradually the forward areas of the border area are also being opened for tourists and there is a need to tell the story of the battlefield to the world. he/she had said that gradually all the areas from Kargil to Galwan and Doklam are being opened for tourists.
