‘Virat Kohli is my first choice… make him/her open’ the veteran’s advice before the World Cup

New Delhi. The countdown for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has started. The 9th edition of the T20 World Cup will start with the match between America and Canada. Team India will play its first match against Ireland on 5 June. Virat Kohli should open for the Indian team in this T20 World Cup. It is not we who are saying this but former Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting.

Ricky Ponting while talking to ICC said, “The selectors have given place to Yashasvi Jaiswal in the team. This clearly means that they are going for a left handed batsman. But I feel that the team management will go for the opening with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli is the first pick of the Indian team for me. he/she can play his/her role in the opening and if a scoring player like Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma is caught along with him/her, who bat with a high strike rate, then amazing batting will be seen.

‘There is no senior junior in our team…’ Gautam Gambhir’s video goes viral after the victory

Ganguly also supported opening

You should get him/her open in the T20 World Cup. he/she has shown that he/she should open in the last few innings. India’s squad is very good. There is depth in the batting and the bowling line up also looks fantastic.

Let us tell you that Virat Kohli has scored 708 runs in 14 innings in this season of IPL. During this period, he/she has scored 5 half-centuries. Virat’s average has been more than 60.
