Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday has issued a red alert regarding heat wave in many northern states including Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana. Actually, today the maximum temperature of Delhi was 45.4 degrees. This is 5 degrees more than normal. Today was the hottest day of the season in Delhi. Heat wave occurred for the first time at base station Safdarjung. The maximum temperature in Mangeshpur and Najafgarh was more than 48 degrees. There is a possibility of light rain on May 31. After which the temperature can fall to 43 degrees. On the other hand, the Meteorological Department said that the south-west monsoon has reached Andaman Islands and is going to reach Kerala by May 31. Monsoon is expected to arrive in Mumbai between June 10 and 11.

The sky is on fire in Rajasthan

Meteorological Department scientist Naresh Kumar says, ‘The highest temperature has been recorded in Phalodi in western Rajasthan, which is 51 degrees Celsius. The next 3-4 days will remain like this in Rajasthan and a red alert has been issued. After this the temperature will gradually decrease. Red alert has also been issued in Haryana. There is an orange alert for Punjab for 2 days and then a red alert has been issued. Authorities have advised people in affected areas to stay indoors during the hottest times of the day, limit fluid intake and avoid exercise.

How far has the monsoon reached?

The weather department has issued a warning of heavy rain in Kerala till May 29 and also issued a ‘yellow alert’ in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam districts. The weather department has predicted that some areas of Kerala may receive thunderstorms with strong winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph on Sunday. As a precautionary measure, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning to fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea until further notice. The department says, ‘People living in coastal areas are advised to go to safe places.’
