Tents, temporary structures, vehicles… disengagement started on LAC, what have India-China soldiers removed so far?

New Delhi: Disengagement has started between India and China on LAC in Eastern Ladakh. According to sources, local commander level meetings in Depsang and Demchok started from Tuesday. On Wednesday, one tent each was removed from both sides in Demchok. Some temporary structures were also demolished on Thursday. According to sources, after the completion of this process, patrolling is expected to start in Depsang and Demchok in the next 4-5 days.

Daily meetings are being held at local commander level.

According to sources, to implement the agreement reached between India and China, the local military commanders level meeting has started in Depsang and Demchok from Tuesday, October 22. According to the decision taken, the action started on Wednesday. Which continues continuously.

This happened in Demchok

In Demchok, there were Indian soldiers on one side of the Charding drain and Chinese soldiers on the other side. But Chinese soldiers had also made tents on the west side of Charding drain i.e. on the Indian side. Now China is removing these tents. Indian soldiers are moving back towards the west side of the Charding drain and Chinese soldiers are moving back towards the east i.e. on the other side of the drain. On Wednesday, one tent was removed from both sides and on Thursday also some tents were removed. These tents were made in 2018. Also, new tents were built in 2020. Here, temporary stone structures have also been built on both sides, the work of removing them has also started. About 10-12 temporary structures have been built on both sides. According to sources, there are about 12 tents each from both sides in Demchok. It takes 20-25 minutes to remove the tent but it takes more time to dismantle the temporary structure.

What happened in Depsang?

The Chinese Army does not have tents in Depsang but they have made temporary shelters by placing tarpaulins between the vehicles. On Thursday, Chinese soldiers also removed some of their vehicles from here. Indian soldiers were also stationed here. The Indian Army also reduced the number of some soldiers from here on Thursday. As disengagement is taking place, the chances of patrolling starting are increasing. Patrolling will be started again after disengagement is completed.
