Earlier this year, Steyn had withdrawn his/her name from IPL 2024 due to personal reasons and Sunrisers appointed former New Zealand cricketer James Franklin as their bowling coach to work with head coach Daniel Vettori. 41-year-old Steyn represented Deccan Chargers (now defunct), Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers in the IPL during his/her playing days. he/she last played for RCB in IPL 2020 before becoming the bowling coach of Sunrisers ahead of the 2022 season.
