On 27 February 2002, the Sabarmati Express coming from Ayodhya to Gujarat was set on fire at Godhra railway station. Many people had died in this. PM Modi said that as soon as I got the news of the incident in Godhra, I decided to go to Godhra. At that time he/she was holding the post of CM, he/she had a sense of responsibility. he/she said, ‘I became MLA for the first time on 24 February 2002. Reached the Assembly for the first time on 27 February. Not even three days had passed since he/she became an MLA when suddenly the Godhra incident happened.

PM Modi told in the podcast that as soon as I got the information, as soon as I left the assembly, I said that I want to go to Godhra. We will first go to Vadodara and take a helicopter from there. I was told there was no helicopter. I said let’s see if anyone can find it and found an ONGC single engine helicopter. PM Modi said only one single-engine helicopter was available to go to Godhra and security agencies had refused to let him/her go. Still I took the risk.

But I was in such a position (Chief Minister) that I had to control my emotions and natural tendencies. I did the same.

However, security personnel said that hospitals are also sensitive as blasts are happening everywhere. I said whatever will happen will happen, I will go. I see it as a responsibility and I rushed to the hospital to see the injured.

What does PM Modi say after meeting the students, told the whole thing

PM Modi said that this is what I explain to the students I meet during the discussion on exams. I tell them to put it out of their mind that they are going to do something. Approach the exam as if it is a part of routine activity. Don’t try to wear any special new clothes. I have never thought about life or death.
