No evidence and outcry at every defeat! This time the Election Commission gave a proper hearing to Congress

New Delhi: Sometimes the EVM was changed, sometimes the EVM was hacked, sometimes the EVM got damaged and sometimes the counting officer made a mistake… Congress party definitely makes some complaint in every election. But as soon as victory is won, an atmosphere of celebration takes over and complaints go into the background and if there is defeat, the complaints continue. The Election Commission has responded in a similar manner in the letter written on Tuesday.

The blame for Haryana’s defeat also lies on EVMs.

Congress put the blame for the defeat in Haryana Assembly elections in a different way. This time the party alleged EVM manipulation by giving very lame reasons. Congress said that at many counting centers the EVM batteries were more charged than others. The party claimed that it had lost where the EVM batteries were over-charged. The party had made an official complaint about this to the Election Commission, to which the Commission responded on Tuesday.

Election Commission’s instructions to Congress

The Election Commission expressed its objection to the attitude of the Congress and also cautioned it. The Commission cited the re-verification report of the returning officers of 26 assembly constituencies. The commission said that after a thorough investigation, it was found that every step of the electoral process was correct and was carried out under the supervision of Congress candidates or agents. This information is in the 1,600 page report.

Election Commission replied in detail

In its reply to the Congress, the Commission said, ‘The returning officers have not found any evidence of any irregularities in the electoral process. The responses reveal that Congress candidates, representatives and their agents were involved in various election processes, including EVM processes.’ On October 8, the day of counting, the Congress had sent a memorandum to the Election Commission, alleging that there was inexplicable delay in updating the Haryana results on the Commission’s website between 9-11 am, which gave rise to suspicion. found. Later in a press conference, Congress’s Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Kheda had also said that Congress candidates would face a setback in the EVA with over-charged batteries.

Question raised on Congress’s attitude

This time, along with replying to the Congress, the Election Commission also showed it a mirror. The Commission also enumerated several instances of the Congress party raising doubts about the electoral process in the last one year and said that such ‘frivolous and baseless doubts’ can lead to unrest at a time when important activities like voting and counting of votes are taking place. This is happening at a time when the restlessness of both the public and political parties is at its peak.

Is Congress engaged in propaganda?

The Election Commission has said that such ‘baseless’ allegations are often vigorously publicized even before any formal communication from the Congress is received by the Commission and this often happens around the day of polling or counting. The Commission has further said that this attitude of a national political party with historical prestige like Congress is quite disappointing. It seems that Congress has deliberately adopted this trend that whether there is evidence or not, just create a cloud of doubt on the credibility of the election results.

What kind of democracy is this of Congress?

The questions raised by the Election Commission on the attitude of Congress are really serious. There is no doubt that the Congress Party makes every possible effort to put the credibility of the Election Commission in the dock. In doing this she also uses cleverness and even after victory says that questions remain on EVMs. The question is whether the impartiality of the Election Commission will be proved only if Congress wins and its opponents keep losing in every election? Congress says that it is fighting to protect democracy. But if democracy is in danger then from whom? The one who wants to write her victory and the defeat of her opponents on the wall forever, can she be the protector of democracy?
