New OTT Release: From ‘Kalki’ to ‘Murshid’ and ‘Raayan’, a power pack of series with 7 Hindi-South films

This is the perfect time to catch up on some of the movies and best shows in the OTT line-up this week. There will be many new movies and web series available on various OTT platforms including Netflix, Jio Cinema, Amazon Prime, ZEE5, SonyLiv. Here is a list of the ones to watch out for this weekend. Some of these have already released and some are set to release this week. Let’s take a look.

1. Kalki 2898 AD

Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is now available on OTT platforms. The Hindi version of the film has been released on Netflix while the Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam versions have been released on Amazon Prime Video.

2. Ryan

Dhanush’s action thriller ‘Raayan’ was released on Amazon Prime on 23 August. The crime thriller was released in theaters on 26 July. Dhanush has also written and directed the film. The film has been well received by the audience. This film can be watched on Prime.

3. Follow me friend

‘Follow Kar Lo Yaar’ is an unscripted show that premiered on Amazon Prime on August 23. The series gives an inside look into the life of social media sensation Urfi Javed. You can watch it anytime.

4. Angry Young Men

The documentary series ‘Angry Young Men’ released on OTT platform Amazon Prime on August 20. ‘Angry Young Men’ shows the Angry Young Man hero-type duo created in the 70s. Salim Khan-Javed Akhtar played an important role in Big B’s stardom. The documentary-series is produced by Salman Khan Films, Excel Media and Entertainment and Tiger Baby.

5. IC 814: Kandahar Hijack (August 29)

This series by Anubhav Sinha depicts the harrowing true events of India’s longest hijacking in December 1999, where Indian Airlines flight 814 was taken over by terrorists and diverted to Kandahar, Afghanistan. Vijay Verma plays Captain Sharan Dev, the pilot of IC 814. The show also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Dia Mirza and Pankaj Kapoor in lead roles. It will be streaming on Netflix.

6. Interrogation (August 30)

‘Interrogation’ is a murder mystery thriller based on the mysterious death of a retired judge, which leaves those close to him/her in shock. As the police question four of his/her closest aides, layers of secrets and lies begin to unravel, revealing a web of deceit. Every suspect’s story brings new twists, making the investigation more difficult. It will be streaming on ZEE5.

7. Murshid (August 30)

Kay Kay Menon plays Pathan in this gangster thriller, a former mafia don who ruled Bombay’s underworld for two decades. Years later, Murshid is forced out of retirement when his/her old enemy, Farid (Zakir Hussain), traps his/her son in a dangerous scheme. As Murshid returns to that dangerous world, he/she finds himself caught in shifting political conspiracies and betrayals. The twist in the tale comes with the arrival of Inspector Kumar Pratap Rana (Tanuj Virwani). It will be streaming on ZEE5.
