New Delhi. Former Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has created history in IPL. Mahi achieved this feat in the match against Punjab Kings. He is the first wicketkeeper to do so. Dhoni could not do anything amazing in batting against Punjab but he definitely created a stir behind the wicket. Dhoni, who returned to the pavilion after being bowled on the very first ball, registered his name in history as he took the catch of Punjab’s Jitesh Sharma behind the wicket. Dhoni has become the first wicketkeeper to take 150 catches in IPL.

Simranjeet Singh brought the 11th over of Punjab Kings’ innings. On the fourth ball of Simranjit, Jitesh Sharma gave his catch to Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni) behind the wicket. This was Dhoni’s 150th catch as a wicketkeeper in IPL. Dhoni touched this figure in the 261st match. Dhoni is at first place in terms of taking most catches as a wicketkeeper in IPL, while Dinesh Karthik is at second place with 144 catches and AB de Villiers is at third place with 119 catches.

Dhoni has taken 192 victims in IPL which includes 42 stumpings. Delhi Capitals captain and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has taken 75 catches in the IPL. Dhoni also created a unique record at number 9 in the match against Punjab. This happened for the first time in IPL history when Dhoni landed lower than 8th. However, he could not succeed and Harshal Patel clean bowled him on a personal score of zero.

This could be the last IPL for Dhoni
This could be MS Dhoni’s last IPL as a player. Dhoni had resigned from the captaincy before the start of the 17th season of IPL. He handed over the captaincy to Rituraj Gaikwad. Dhoni’s resignation from captaincy indicates his retirement.
