He got 296 votes. Let us tell you that this will be the fourth time when Kapil Sibal will work as the President of SCBA. Before this, Kapil Sibal had also been the President of the Bar Association for the year 2001-2002. Before that, he was also the President of SCBA in 1995-96 and 1997-98.

‘This is just a trailer’

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh termed the election of former Union Minister Kapil Sibal as President of the Supreme Court Bar Association as a victory for liberal and democratic forces and said that this is a trailer of big changes that are going to happen very soon in the country. Senior advocate Sibal defeated his nearest rival Pradeep Rai in the election for the post of President of the Bar Association.

After his victory, Ramesh posted on ‘X’ that Kapil Sibal has been elected President of the Supreme Court Bar Association with an overwhelming majority. This is a major victory for liberal, secular, democratic and progressive forces. In the words of the outgoing Prime Minister, it is also a trailer of the change that is coming very soon at the national level. This should come as a shock to the legal ‘drumbeaters’ and ‘cheerleaders’ of the soon to be former regime.
