Jayasuriya denied allegations of sexual exploitation during interrogation, called himself a ‘living martyr’!


Actor Jayasuriya appeared before the police on Tuesday for questioning in a sexual harassment case. An actress has filed a complaint against Jayasuriya, alleging that she was misbehaved during the shooting of a film at the Secretariat. According to Mathrubhumi, during interrogation, Jayasuriya called himself a ‘living martyr’. Jayasuriya rejected all the allegations against him/her after being interrogated at the Cantonment police station. An FIR was lodged against the actor on August 28. The actress had leveled allegations of sexual harassment against Jayasuriya, MLA M Mukesh, actor Maniyanpilla Raju and Idavela Babu.

‘This is a fabricated case’

According to Manorama report, Kerala Police on Tuesday questioned Jayasuriya in a rape case filed by a female colleague. he/she was called to the Cantonment Police Station in Thiruvananthapuram at 10 am for questioning. he/she said, ‘I completely deny the allegations. This is a fabricated matter. I don’t even need anticipatory bail.

Actor expressed concern

The actor further said, ‘It is worrying that people are making such false allegations against someone. At least I have a platform to present my case. Many others don’t do this. This may destabilize many families.

‘I am a living martyr’

A Mathrubhumi report quoted him/her as saying, ‘Two false allegations have been made against me. A woman has been talking at several places, implying that it is me, but later, she has denied it on several occasions…. I will fight legally until the allegations against me are false. Don’t be proven. I believe that I am a living martyr.

Kerala Police had registered a second case of sexual harassment against Jayasurya after an actress accused him/her of molestation inside a film set near Thodupuzha, Kerala during 2012–2013. Following the complaint, the Kerala government appointed a seven-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the claims.

Case registered against actor

A fresh FIR has been registered against Jayasuriya at the Karamana police station under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty). Section 354 C of IPC has also been imposed against the actor, which relates to voyeurism.

Justice Hema Committee Report

It is known that these allegations have come to light after the release of the Justice Hema Committee report, which has brought into limelight many sexual harassment allegations in the Malayalam film industry. After the Hema Committee report revealed rampant sexual exploitation in Mollywood, many female actors associated with the Malayalam film industry are speaking openly about their experiences.
