IPL Final: KKR became IPL champion for the third time, defeated SRH in 11 overs, Gambhir-Iyer overpowered Cummins


New Delhi. Kolkata Knight Riders have won the IPL 2024 title by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad. Kolkata (KKR) and Hyderabad (SRH) were the two best teams of IPL 2024. Was on top-2 in the points table. The expectation was for a close contest. But KKR made it the most one-sided final in history. Shreyas Iyer’s team KKR first restricted SRH to just 113 runs in the IPL final. After this the match was won in 10.3 overs. KKR has won the IPL title for the third time.

In this victory of IPL 2024, the Kolkata Knight Riders players are being praised as much as their mentor Gautam Gambhir. And it is not a mere coincidence that Gautam Gambhir has contributed in getting all three titles for IPL. KKR had won the first two titles (2012 and 2014) under the captaincy of Gambhir. Now when KKR wins the title in 2024, Gautam Gambhir is the mentor of the team.

The final of IPL 2024 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders was played in Chennai. Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat first but his/her batsmen disappointed. KKR started taking wickets from the very first over and bowled out SRH for just 113 runs. In this way, the team of Sunrisers Hyderabad which had made the highest score in the IPL, made the lowest score in the final. SRH team could not even play the full 20 overs. She collapsed in 18.3 overs.

Hyderabad’s batting flopped badly
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting flopped badly. Its star opener Travis Head returned to the pavilion with a golden duck while the other opener Abhishek Sharma could score only 2 runs. Rahul Tripathi, who came to bat at number three, was out after scoring 9 runs. In this way Sunrisers Hyderabad lost their top-3 batsmen for just 21 runs.

Cummins crossed 100 runs
After the top order flopped badly, the middle order also disappointed. Nitish Reddy was out after scoring 13 runs, Heinrich Klaasen 16, Shahbaz Ahmed 8 and Abdul Samad 4 runs. Due to this, SRH were in danger of being reduced to within 100 runs. Captain Pat Cummins played an inning of 24 runs and took his/her team to 113 runs. Andre Russell took maximum 3 wickets for KKR. Mitchell Starc and Harshit Rana took two wickets each.

Venkatesh-Gurbaz’s winning partnership
The target of 114 runs was never difficult and the way KKR batted, it seemed that it could have easily achieved a score more than 200. Opener Sunil Narine could not do much in batting in the final and was out after scoring 6 runs. But Venkatesh Iyer (52) and opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz (39), who came at number three, took their team close to the target with explosive batting. Both of them made a partnership of 91 runs in just 45 balls and took their team to 102 runs. Gurbaz was out on this score. But Venkatesh Iyer did not make any mistake. he/she, along with captain Shreyas Iyer (6), led his/her team to victory in the 11th over.
