Indians thinking of going to Canada to study or work should be alert! Lakhs of people are going to leave the country in 2025, know the reason

Indians in Canada: Indians thinking of going to Canada to study or work should be careful. Canadian immigration officials said that about 5 million temporary permits are going to expire by the end of 2025. Officials hope that most of these people will leave the country on their own. Immigration Minister Mark Miller was asked about the temporary permit, after which he/she informed the Common Immigration Committee in this regard.
Conservative MP Tom Kimik asked Miller that the permits of about 49 lakh temporary visa holders are about to expire, how will the government ensure that these people leave the country. On this Mark Miller said that it is expected that many people will go on their own. The Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) will take action against those who overstay. That means, if someone’s permit has expired and he/she will stay in the country for a long time, then action will be taken against him/her.

More than 7 lakh study permits will also expire

MP Tom Kimmick also expressed concern about the 766,000 study permits set to expire by December 2025. he/she asked the government whether CBSA will keep an eye on all this. In response, Miller clarified that some students can renew their permits or apply for a post-graduate work permit, allowing them to stay in Canada longer. That means the government wants most of the foreign students studying in Canada to return to their country.

For what reasons can people leave Canada?

Under Canada’s new immigration plan, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government is going to reduce the number of permanent and temporary residents coming to Canada in the next three years. Elections are going to be held in Canada next year and there is a lot of pressure on the government. Under the new plan, the number of permanent residents will be reduced from 5,00,000 to 395,000 in 2025. This is a decrease of 21%. The number of temporary workers and international students will also reduce.

The number of temporary foreign workers is expected to decline by more than 40% by 2026 and the number of international students will also decline by 10%. These measures are being taken to slow Canada’s population growth and to allow the country’s infrastructure to keep pace with the growing demand for housing, healthcare and social services. This means that it is going to be very difficult for foreigners to find jobs and for students to study in Canada.

Prime Minister Trudeau noted that temporary foreign workers have become an important part of Canada’s workforce. But the influx of immigrants following the COVID pandemic has increased pressure on Canada’s housing and social infrastructure. Due to the new immigration scheme, it will also become difficult for foreigners to live in Canada. Because of this, millions of people may themselves plan to leave Canada and go to some other country.
