New Delhi. Surprised by India’s decision not to play a practice match against Australia before the Border Gavaskar Trophy, former England captain Michael Vaughan has expressed apprehension that without match practice, how the Indian team will play with a defending mindset. India has decided not to play any practice match against the home team of Australia before the five-Test series starting on November 22 in Perth, whereas this had not happened on the last two tours.

While talking to ‘Fox Sports’, Vaughan said, “I don’t understand why a team like India wants to play only ‘intra squad’ matches before playing against Australia on their soil. How will you get down with such a defending mindset? Only time will tell.”

Perth Test: After Rohit, Shubman Gill is also out… the young star can return to the playing XI

India has also decided not to play the three-day ‘Intra Squad’ match with its ‘A’ team. he/she is focusing on practice on the main pitch of WACA in Perth. The Indian team management believes that the bounce on the WACA pitch is similar to the Perth Stadium pitch and practicing on it will benefit the top-order batsmen.

Vaughan said, “I am surprised that this Indian team does not want to play even a single practice match.” The pitch of the WACA is similar to the main pitch and has similar bounce. Let us tell you that Australia also did not play practice matches on the Test tours of India and England last year.
