Be cautious of hotel and taxi drivers

Hotel/cab drivers are involved in scams. These people target those pilgrims who have come to visit Maa Vaishno Devi for the first time. When you sit in their cab, they will tell you to buy chunri and puja items from a certain place, there is no shop ahead. In such a situation, you will be sold low priced items at four times the price.

One person said that he/she had to pay Rs 3100 for a chunari and three silver items. When he/she went further, he/she found out that the price of chunari was only Rs 300-400 and the silver items were Rs 200-250. After this, the whole game of the hotel/cab driver was understood.

Restaurant owners increase the price of food

While climbing to Vaishno Devi temple, there are many small hotels and restaurants in between, so when you stop here to rest and eat, the staff here is ready to loot you. Actually, when someone orders food here, 50 rupees are added per plate. Therefore, our advice is that when you eat in any hotel or restaurant here, first ask the price of the food.

Beware of fake helicopter tickets

Vaishno Devi shrine is located at an altitude of 5 thousand 300 feet above sea level. There are some people who are unable to climb to visit Vaishno Devi. Horse, mule and porter owners demand extra money

To reach the temple of Mata which is called ‘Bhawan’ from the base camp Katra, one has to climb about 13 kilometers. In such a situation, the facility of riding a horse, mule, pony or palanquin is also provided here. The facilities are not free, you have to pay for it.

When you book any one of these at a fixed price, even then the owner of the horse, mule, pony or palanquin ride asks you for money for the food and water of the horse and mule. So before booking them, clear all the things first, so that you do not get cheated later.

Avoid discounts

When you reach Katra, you will see many hotels in a line, where the hotel staff will tell you about giving you a discount, after which when you accept the offer given by them, then later a staff member will come to ask for donation in the name of Mata Rani.
