ICC gave double happiness to Indian fans, Bumrah and Mandhana got Player of the Month award

Dubai. The Indian cricket team has made its presence felt all over the world by winning the ICC T20 World Cup. Both the men’s and women’s players of Team India are in the limelight at this time. Jaspreet Bumrah, who was the hero of India’s victorious campaign in the T20 World Cup, was selected as the best male player for the month of June by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday. It was a moment of double happiness for India because the vice-captain of the women’s team, Smriti Mandhana, was selected as the ‘best female player for the month of June’.

Fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah won this title by defeating Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Mandhana won the women’s award by leaving behind England’s Maia Boucher and Sri Lanka’s Wismi Gunaratne. ICC said in a statement that Bumrah, who was selected as the best player of the tournament by taking 15 wickets in the T20 World Cup last month, has also won the best player award for June.

In an ICC statement, Bumrah said, “I am delighted to be named ICC’s Men’s Player of the Month for June. This is a special honour for me after spending some memorable weeks in the US and West Indies. As a team, we got a lot of opportunities to celebrate and I enjoyed contributing to it.” Bumrah took wickets at an average of 8.26 in the T20 World Cup while conceding just 4.17 runs per over.
