The lawyer was insisting on getting the fine withdrawn in the Supreme Court, the court warned to issue a notice of contempt

New Delhi: Today in the Supreme Court, a Lucknow lawyer Ashok Pandey was severely reprimanded by two different benches. Actually, Ashok Pandey had pleaded before two different benches to remove the fine imposed on him/her. While hearing on this, first the bench of Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Augustine G Masih and then another bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Vishwanathan reprimanded the lawyer and warned him/her of issuing a notice of contempt. Let’s know what the whole matter is

The first case was of non-payment of bail amount

In fact, Lucknow lawyer Ashok Pandey appeared before the bench of Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Augustine G Masih in the first case today. Where the bench reprimanded him/her for not depositing the bail amount of Rs 50,000. Let us tell you that this fine was imposed for the petition rejected by the Supreme Court last year, in which he/she had challenged the appointment of Supreme Court lawyers as High Court judges. Today, while hearing the bench, the bench said that after the court imposed a fine, you went abroad. Now you cannot say that you do not have Rs 50,000 to deposit. On which lawyer Ashok Pandey said that he/she has not got a single case since last year. his/her foreign trip was sponsored by his/her children. My children are rich, I am not.

After which the bench said that you should deposit the fine amount in a week or else we will issue a contempt notice. Are you ready to pay in 2 weeks or not? You are a member of the bar, we request you to give a clear answer. After that the court gave him/her time till August 5 and said that if the fine is not paid then the court will issue a contempt notice.

The second case also turned out to be of not paying the bail amount

After that, in another case, lawyer Ashok Pandey was severely reprimanded by another bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Vishwanathan. Actually, Ashok Pandey had challenged the restoration of Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership. Rejecting Ashok Pandey’s petition, the court imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him/her. Which he/she has not paid yet.

Ashok Pandey has filed 200 PILs so far

Today, while hearing this case, Justice BR Gavai refused to withdraw the fine and lawyer Ashok Pandey got angry. he/she warned lawyer Ashok Pandey in a strict tone that if you speak even one word after this, then a case of contempt of court will be filed against you. After that, the Justice asked the lawyer how many PILs have you filed so far and how many times has the court imposed a fine? Responding to the court’s question, lawyer Ashok Pandey said that I have filed 200 PILs. On hearing 200, Justice Gavai again got angry, after which lawyer Ashok Pandey said that I trust the decision of the Constitution Bench, please withdraw the fine.

On this, Justice Gavai said that now you go, if you do not leave the podium then we will be embarrassed. Are you accepting the notice of contempt or are you leaving the courtroom. However, after that lawyer Ashok Pandey was not ready to leave the courtroom. After which Justice Gavai got angry and said that now you leave or should I call the court martial? After Justice Gavai said this much, lawyer Pandey said that he/she is leaving the court but take back the fine.
