The trailer of his/her web series ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’ based on the Kandahar hijack has been released on Monday, 19 August. In this nearly three-minute teaser, veterans like Naseeruddin Shah, Vijay Verma, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Arvind Swami, Dia Mirza, Pankaj Kapoor and Patralekha take us on a horrifying journey that is going to give you goosebumps. With this mini-series, director Anubhav Sinha is debuting on OTT. This series of Anubhav, who has made powerful films like ‘Mulk’, ‘Thappad’, ‘Article 17’ and ‘Bheed’, is going to be released on Netflix on 29 August this month.

What is Kandahar hijack, what happened with IC-814

Let us tell you that Indian Airlines flight IC-814 was hijacked by five terrorists just 40 minutes after taking off from Kathmandu on 24 December 1999. This plane was held hostage for seven days. It flew from Kathmandu to Amritsar and then to Lahore. It was refueled in Lahore and it reached Taliban-controlled Kandahar via Dubai. The Indian government made every possible effort to save the lives of its people in this plane hijack. Therefore, in return, our country had to release 3 dangerous terrorists like Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar. The then Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh went to Kandahar with these three, where they were handed over to the Afghan Taliban. Finally, on 31 December 1999, all the passengers were released from the clutches of the terrorists.
