Cummins prepared 2 weapons against Team India, said- now we have to take responsibility

Melbourne. Australia, which has lost the last two Border Gavaskar Trophy matches against the Indian team at home, wants to avoid a hat-trick of defeats this time. Test team captain Pat Cummins has high hopes from his/her all-rounders. he/she said, “I hope all-rounders Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh will take more responsibility of bowling during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series to be held later this year.”

Cummins wants both these all-rounders to take over the responsibility of the team’s main fast bowlers in the five-Test series starting in November. Cummins said during a program, “It is beneficial to have all-rounders in the team. In the last few years, we have not been able to use them as much as we thought. This is a good thing. But something different can happen in this summer season. We can give Green and Marsh a little more responsibility in bowling.”

The Australian captain said, “A player like Green started as a bowler in Shield cricket, but he/she did not have to bowl much in Test matches. Now he/she has become more mature than before. I think we will depend on him/her a little more.”

25-year-old Green has taken 35 wickets in 28 Test matches at an average of 35.31 in his/her career so far. Cummins said, “The first issue is whether both of them (Green and Marsh) make it to the top six on the basis of their batting alone. We are really fortunate that we have a bowler like Nathan Lyon from whom we can get many overs. In such a situation, it is not necessary that you have an all-rounder, but having a fifth bowling option makes a big difference.

Cummins said, “We have six bowling options in the form of Green and Marsh. This is a good thing but in batting, the six top order batsmen should make a place in the team on the basis of their batting only.”
