Gavaskar also criticized the decision to select Nitish Kumar Reddy. Who has played only 23 first class matches in his/her domestic career. Gavaskar believes that the 21-year-old player should have been given some more time to adapt to Test cricket. he/she said, “I thought there were big boundaries on these Australian wickets. That’s why I thought you would go with Ashwin and Jadeja.

Gavaskar further said, “But this is a new management. Everyone has new thinking. They have chosen Nitish Kumar Reddy, there is no doubt that he/she is a promising cricketer. But is he/she ready for Test cricket?”
