Delhi University Admission: DU Tie Breaker Formula

  • This year, admissions will be held for about 71 thousand seats in 79 UG programs and 198 BA program combinations in 68 colleges/institutes/centres of DU.
  • DU has more than 1550 course combinations.
  • Admissions are being done on the basis of CUET since last two years. This system, which came after DU Cut Off system, has shifted everyone’s attention away from board scores to CUET.
  • Like the last two years, 12th marks will be considered only for the minimum eligibility for a course (DU Admission Eligibility). DU has kept passing as the eligibility criteria for each of its UG courses. That means any student who has passed 12th can take admission in every course of DU on the basis of CUET score.
  • Apart from this, if two or more students have the same score in CUET, then the tie breaker formula will be applicable. Here the role of class 12th will be important. In this situation, the decision regarding seat will be taken on the basis of best 3/best 4/best 5 subject score and age of the candidate.

Delhi University Form 2024: When will it come?

Every year 80-90% CBSE board students apply in DU. Dean of Admissions, Delhi University, Prof. Honeyt Gandhi says-
‘We will start the registration process for DU’s Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) by the last week of May with the end of CUET. In the last two years, seats have been decided through tie breaker formula. It is true that the number race of the board has reduced in the last two years.

‘In such a situation, those students are also getting seats in those colleges whose 12th score is between 80 to 90%. Earlier, even those with 95% were not able to get seats in these colleges. But it is not that the importance of board scores or studies has decreased. Those who are doing well in CBSE exams are also performing well in CUET. Because the syllabus of both is based on NCERT books.
