Defense Intelligence Agency Director General Lieutenant General DS Rana leaves on official visit to Tanzania




The Defense Ministry said that Director General Defense Intelligence Agency (DG DIA) Lieutenant General DS Rana has left on an official visit to Tanzania.

The visit, scheduled from 13-15 May 2024, aims to further strengthen the strong defense ties between the two countries and discuss opportunities for regional security cooperation.

During his visit, Director General DIA is scheduled to interact with Tanzania’s senior military leadership, including the Chief of Defense Staff of the Tanzania People’s Defense Force, General Jacob John Makunda and his counterpart Major General MN Makaremi, Chief of Defense Intelligence .

In his visit to the Tanzania National Defense College, he will discuss India’s security perspective with the future leaders of the TPDF. The objective of the meetings will be to promote mutual understanding and strengthen bilateral defense cooperation.

Lieutenant General DS Rana will also inaugurate the newly established Defense Wing at the Indian High Commission, Dar es Salaam. As a gesture of goodwill towards enhancing military cooperation, he will present the TPDF with bullet proof jackets made in India.

DG DIA at Command and Staff College CSC Arusha will inaugurate the Library and lay the foundation stone of the Gymnasium which is being facilitated with the assistance of Government of India.

India enjoys close, warm and friendly relations with Tanzania, which are strengthened by strong capacity building and opportunities for defense cooperation. The Defense Ministry also said that the visit of the Indian military delegation is expected to further strengthen the advanced strategic partnership with Tanzania.
