Decision on 5th team to be out of IPL 2024, competition with top team

New Delhi. So far four teams have almost been eliminated from this season of the Indian Premier League. The Delhi Capitals team, which is officially in the race for the playoffs till now, will play on May 7 to keep the hopes alive. Delhi will have to defeat an in-form team like Rajasthan Royals at any cost on Tuesday. All eyes will be on the bat of captain Rishabh Pant and Jack Fraser McGurk.

Delhi has so far won five out of 11 matches and lost six. Delhi will have to win the remaining three matches at any cost, although even after that they will have only 16 points, which may not be enough to reach the playoffs. Apart from KKR (16 points in 11 matches) and Royals (16 points in 10 matches), Chennai Super Kings (12 points in 11 matches), Sunrisers Hyderabad (12 points in 10 matches) and Lucknow Super Giants (12 points in 11 matches). In such a situation, Delhi may not be able to qualify even after the best performance, but Pant has faith in Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s policy of controlling only what can be controlled. There will be a double challenge for Pant on the flat pitch of Arun Jaitley Stadium. He would like his bowlers like Khalil Ahmed, Ishant Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav to dismiss Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson and Ryan Parag cheaply but with the boundary line being only 60 meters, it will be difficult to do so.

Pant, who has scored 380 runs so far including three half-centuries, will once again be responsible for a good performance. They have an aggressive batsman like Australia’s young Fraser McGurk. Together these two can change the map of the match. However, Delhi will face a tough challenge from the bowling attack of Royals.

It will not be easy to play Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin. Apart from him, Royals have another useful bowler in the form of Sandeep Sharma. The economy rate of Rajasthan’s bowlers has also been good, but Delhi has Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav as the only bowlers whose economy rate has been below nine. Khalil Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Lizaad Williams and Enrich Norkia have proved to be very expensive. Last time both the teams met in Jaipur in March in which Delhi had to face defeat.
