Crime branch may record statements of injured MPs on December 23, big update in Parliament scuffle case

New Delhi: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police, which is investigating the alleged scuffle in the Parliament complex, can take the statements of two MPs admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on December 23. Sources gave this information on Saturday. MPs Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput were injured after a scuffle broke out between opposition and ruling BJP MPs in the Parliament complex on Thursday.

BJP lodged FIR against Rahul Gandhi

An FIR was registered against Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi at the Sansad Marg police station after the BJP lodged a complaint on Thursday. BJP accused Rahul Gandhi of physical attack and instigation. A police source said, ‘The crime branch received this case on Friday and a dedicated team led by the DCP was given the responsibility to study the case so that investigation can be started.’

Crime branch can take statements of injured MPs

The source said that the Crime Branch team will wait for information about the medical condition of the two MPs on Sunday and may go to the hospital on Monday to record their statements. Hospital sources said that both the MPs were shifted from ICU to the ward on Saturday. he/she said that the Crime Branch will also contact the Parliament Secretariat to obtain CCTV footage of the incident.

Crime branch can also investigate the complaint made by Congress

The crime branch is also probing a complaint filed by the Congress, which has accused BJP MPs of misbehaving with party chief Mallikarjun Kharge in Parliament on the same day, the source said. The source said that if needed during the investigation, officials can recreate the crime scene.

BJP MP Hemang Joshi along with party colleagues Anurag Thakur and Bansuri Swaraj on Thursday went to Sansad Marg police station and lodged a complaint. The Congress rejected the claim outright, alleging that BJP MPs pushed Kharge and physically abused Gandhi.
