The hero of Australia’s victory was opener Travis Head. he/she played an invaluable innings of 59 runs in 23 balls and was chosen as the Player of the Match.

The first T20 match between hosts England and Australia was played in Southampton. England won the toss and chose to bowl first. Jamie Overton, Jacob Bethell and Jordan Cox made their T20 International debut through this match. All three players could not do anything special in their debut match.

Australia, who came to bat after losing the toss, got off to a great start. Openers Travis Head and Matthew Short (41) scored 86 runs in the powerplay. Travis Head was out on the last ball of the powerplay i.e. the last ball of the sixth over. Three runs later, Matthew Short also got out. After this, except Josh Inglis (37), no batsman could stay on the crease for long. As a result, Australia, which had scored 86 runs without losing a wicket, was all out for 179 runs in 19.3 overs. Australia lost its last 10 wickets adding 93 runs.

In this way, England’s bowlers got Australia all out and shifted the momentum towards their team, but the batsmen could not take advantage of it. Liam Livingstone was the only one who could score more than 20 runs. he/she played an innings of 37 runs in 27 balls. Phil Salt, who was captaining the team for the first time, scored 20 runs in 12 balls. And no other batsman could stand in front of the Australian bowlers.
