After the agreement on LAC with China, Indian Army patrolled for the first time in Depsang, trust between the two countries is gradually increasing.

New Delhi: The Indian Army conducted its first patrol in the Depsang plains on Monday, almost two weeks after the agreement on LAC with China. This agreement was made to reduce tension on LAC between the two countries. Defense sources have said that there are several patrolling points like PP10, PP11, PP12, PP12A and PP13 in Depsang Plains. But, this time the patrolling was limited to only one point, as decided by both the sides. According to sources, in the initial phase the patrolling parties will go only to one or two patrolling points. This is because covering all the points in one go would be a difficult task. The aim is to gradually increase trust between the two sides. A source said, ‘Everything is happening as per the agreement between both the parties. The first patrolling has been completed today itself. he/she also informed that the patrol team had left in the morning and returned by afternoon.

Situation is gradually becoming normal on LAC

On October 30, India and China had retreated from the two standoff points of Depsang Plains and Demchok in eastern Ladakh. During this time, both the countries had withdrawn their troops to the pre-2020 position and also demolished all the check posts, shelters built in the last four and a half years. Sources said Indian troops will not be able to patrol Charding La. It is a pass on the border of India and China in the Demchok region of Ladakh. As per earlier reports, it has been decided to limit patrolling to twice a month with active cooperation between the two sides.
