New Delhi. The Indian team will play the first test match of Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Perth from 22nd November. There is an exciting battle between Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna over who will be the third fast bowler in India’s playing eleven in the first Test match of the series. Both the pacers are in the race as the third seamer. Harshit, who has played 10 first class matches, is said to be consistently performing brilliantly with a speed of over 140kmph and the ability to get good bounce. he/she has influenced even big giants.

During India’s net practice at the WACA ground in Perth, Harshit Rana troubled the batsmen with his/her fast pace on many occasions. On the other hand, India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel spent a lot of time with the Karnataka player who had recently performed impressively during the ‘A’ series against Australia in Mackay and Melbourne. Prasidh has the experience of playing two Tests and can get good bounce.

Shami can tour Australia in the second half
Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami may return to international cricket with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but this may happen only in the second half of the series. People with knowledge of the matter said that the medical team of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the national selectors want Shami to play some more competitive matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. So that it can be seen whether his/her body is fine even after many matches, even if it is a white ball tournament.

Then Shami will be available for Bengal
Chief coach Laxmi Ratan Shukla told PTI, ‘The Bengal team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be selected tomorrow. If Shami does not go for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy then I believe he/she will be available for Bengal. It is understood that the selection committee did not want to take any risks by rushing Shami into the squad after just one Ranji Trophy match after completing an extensive rehabilitation programme. However, Shami, who appeared in a competitive match after a year, performed impressively for Bengal against Madhya Pradesh in Indore and took seven wickets to give his/her team its first win of the season. Rohit Sharma will not play in the first test match of the series against Australia. Jasprit Bumrah will captain the Indian team in Perth.
