Debut under Dhoni’s captaincy, boxer turned cricketer retires


New Delhi. Team India’s left-hand fast bowler Barinder Sran has announced his/her retirement from all formats of cricket. Barinder, who played for Team India under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, played 6 ODIs and 2 T20 International matches. he/she said goodbye to cricket on Thursday (29 August). Announcing his/her decision on social media, 31-year-old Barinder said that this is the ‘right’ time to retire. Barinder made his/her international cricket debut against Australia in Perth in 2015-16. Then in 2016, he/she played two T20 International matches for India on the Zimbabwe tour.

Barinder Sran wrote in an Instagram post, I am officially retiring from cricket. I look back at my journey with gratitude. After moving from boxing to cricket in 2009, this sport gave me countless and incredible experiences. Fast bowling soon became lucky for me. And the path to representing the prestigious IPL franchise opened up. Which resulted in the highest honor of representing India in 2016. Even though my international career was short. But I will cherish its memories forever, I will always be grateful to God that he/she gave me the right coach and management who supported me throughout my journey.

Cricket Career of Barinder Sran
Barinder Sran took seven wickets in six ODIs and six wickets in two T20 Internationals. Barinder played for Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. And took 18 wickets in 24 matches between 2015 and 2019. he/she played his/her last competitive match for Punjab against Madhya Pradesh in the 2020-21 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Apart from taking 47 wickets in 18 first-class matches, he/she took 45 wickets in 31 List A matches. he/she has 45 wickets in his/her name in 48 T20 matches.
