New Delhi. Pakistan’s T20 World Cup campaign has suffered a major setback. Babar Azam and company are to face America on Thursday. All-rounder Imad Wasim is out of this match. Both teams will clash at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas from 9:00 pm Indian time. Imad will not be able to play the first match due to side strain. Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed Imad’s exclusion from the match against America. PCB recently broke Imad’s retirement and brought him/her back. PCB brought him/her back on the condition that he/she would play in the World Cup. But by getting out of the first match itself, Imad has given a big blow to the Pakistani team.

PCB said, ‘Imad Wasim will not be available for selection in the match to be played against America on Thursday. Because he/she has been advised to rest by the PCB medical team.’ Apart from being a left arm spinner, Imad is also an expert in hitting big shots. Imad Wasim complained of pain in his/her right rib while batting in the nets before the fourth and final T20 match of the series against England in London last month. Due to this, he/she was not a part of Pakistan’s playing eleven in the fourth and final T20 match of the series against England on 30 May last month.

Pakistan has taken this step as a precaution, as they have also confirmed that the left-arm spinner could be available for the big match against India in New York on June 9. Imad Wasim has returned to international cricket after retiring from all formats of the game ahead of the T20 World Cup. Left-arm spinner Imad last played the T20 World Cup in 2021. he/she has taken 6 wickets in the same number of matches for Pakistan since returning to the senior team in April. Imad made a strong claim to make it to the playing XI in the T20 World Cup.
