New Delhi: The first aircraft of the Mark 1A variant of the indigenous combat aircraft Tejas (LCA) is expected to be delivered to the Indian Air Force by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) by July this year. This aircraft was earlier to be delivered to the Air Force during February-March, but due to technical reasons it has been slightly delayed. Defense officials told ANI that the Indian Air Force and public sector company HAL recently signed an agreement for the fighter aircraft Tejas project. It has been reviewed and is now expected to be handed over to the Air Force by July this year. He said HAL had successfully completed the maiden flight of the fighter aircraft last month and several more trials would be completed before handing over to the Air Force. Officials Said that the induction of indigenous fighter aircraft will be an important step towards achieving self-reliance in the defense sector and the Prime Minister can also be invited on this occasion.

Order for 83 aircraft has been placed

The LCA Mark 1A project was conceived after Prime Minister Narendra Modi took charge. An order worth Rs 48,000 crore has already been placed for 83 aircraft and another order worth Rs 65,000 crore is expected to be placed for 97 aircraft by the end of this financial year. The Defense Ministry has already approved Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL ) has issued a tender to purchase 97 indigenous fighter aircraft Tejas Mark 1A. This tender is the largest order ever placed by the Government of India for indigenous military equipment. Recently issued to HAL by the Defense Ministry, the company has been given three months to respond.

MiG-21, MiG-23 and MiG-27 can be removed soon

Government officials had told ANI that the program aims to replace the Indian Air Force’s fleet of MiG-21, MiG-23 and MiG-27 aircraft, which have either been phased out or are soon to be phased out. . With the support of both the Defense Ministry and the Air Headquarters, the indigenous fighter aircraft program is expected to significantly boost indigenization efforts and provide eco-business opportunities to small and medium enterprises engaged in the defense sector across the country. He said That the indigenous combat aircraft programme, fully supported by the Ministry of Defense and Air Force Headquarters, will be a major incentive to promote indigenization as well as give big business to small and medium enterprises engaged in the defense sector across the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been pushing for the revival of HAL, which under his government has won orders to manufacture all types of indigenous fighter planes and helicopters, including engines for them. The Prime Minister also flew a flight in the trainer version of the indigenous fighter aircraft, which was the first flight by an Indian Prime Minister in any fighter aircraft. Indian Air Force Chief VR Chaudhari had announced plans to purchase 97 more LCA Mark 1A fighter aircraft on the foreign soil of Spain.
