Bumrah is not a bad option, veteran angry over Pandya being made vice captain

New Delhi. Former Indian cricket team fast bowler Irfan Pathan is not happy with Hardik Pandya being made the vice-captain in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Pathan says that when you have a player like Jasprit Bumrah, then handing over the responsibility to Pandya is beyond his understanding. Former left-arm pacer Irfan Pathan said that in the last few years, questions have been raised about Hardik Pandya’s commitment to Indian cricket and a player like Jasprit Bumrah should play the role of vice-captain of the Indian team in the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in America and West Indies. More capable of performing.

Irfan Pathan, who was the best player of the T20 World Cup 2007 final, has been a vocal critic of Hardik Pandya for a long time and has been continuously targeting the Indian all-rounder who hails from Baroda. Pathan said in ‘Star Sports’ program, ‘There was a new plan after the T20 World Cup. He aimed to create a young team with Pandya and Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) as potential captains. Still, questions were raised about the consistency of Pandya’s performance and commitment to Indian cricket.

Chennai captain lost the toss 9 times out of 10… Said – We scored 50-60 runs less… blamed the defeat on the wicket

‘This should not happen because…’
Pandya has not played any domestic cricket for Baroda in almost five years and Pathan is not happy with his absence. According to Hardik Pandya, ‘Regular participation in domestic cricket is necessary to serve Indian cricket throughout the year. Injuries are inevitable but proper planning with consistent match play including domestic cricket is important for a player’s comeback. But then there is also a player who returns from injury without meeting the same requirements. This should not happen because it sends a wrong message to the rest of the team players.

‘All players should be treated equally’
Pathan also criticized giving special exemption to Pandya. He said, ‘When they (players) see that one player is getting special treatment, it spoils the atmosphere of the team. Cricket is not like tennis, it is a team sport where equality is important. Every player should be treated fairly and equally.

‘Someone like Bumrah is not a bad option’
Pathan, who has taken more than 300 wickets and more than 2700 runs across all formats in international cricket, believes that Pandya does not deserve to be India’s vice-captain. He said, ‘So now coming back to your question about making Hardik Pandya the vice-captain, I understand the logic behind it because of the importance of continuity in leadership. However, considering the current performance, it makes sense for the selectors to opt for continuity. Still, I believe that someone like Bumrah is not a bad option. Hardik Pandya is not performing anything special in IPL at this time. He has returned to IPL after injury. After this he will go to play the World Cup. There has been a fitness problem with him.
